Ideas for a Space For God charter

FOCUS:

  • A space for Christian spirituality a to be expressed, challenged, developed, fostered
  • A space to encourage a living, loving faith that changes the way we live and act, working towards creating and sustaining social justice, from many different perspectives
  • A space for action, praise, prayer, silence, discussion and blessing
  • A circle, not  a hierarchy of power or knowledge, everyone's life and experiences can teach us, everyone must always learn anew
  • Committed to supporting difference , different opinions, different faiths, different visions of gender, sexuality and culture,  different ways to love God
  • Life giving
  • Supportive of every member
  • Responsible to and for each other to the best of our abilities
  • Fragile, dependent on individuals who themselves need support and assistance
  • Strong, guided by people who have strong faith, wisdom, experience  and knowledge.


STRUCTURE:

  • Interactive and creative, within a loose structure set weekly that is open to change (although best if this be through discussion outside the actual service)
  • Guided by a presenter, working inside a frame, given to the group on the order of service (crap name, we must be able to beat that?). This maybe Steph or Carol, guest presenters or someone in the group.
  • There is usually singing, chanting, drumming and ritual, as well as prayer, presentation, creative activity and discussion.
  • Structures and themes fed by the whole community, through regular individual feedback (specially at coffee before and Zappi's after church), and group planning sessions



Please be aware that others people's opinions maybe radically different to your own and that this is encouraged at Space for God. We have so much to learn by listening and everything to lose by closing off. Please also be aware that your own opinions maybe difficult for other people to hear, if you think you are causing distress, please think how you might approach a topic in another way.

Please feel free to contribute in many different ways, if the space for your type of contribution is not there, please raise this before or after service.

Please bring people to Space for God, but also please come as regularly as you can.
