The trouble with ‘open Christian’ (and I suppose there’ll be problems inherent in any label) But the issue for me with open Christan is that it can present an ‘anything goes’ kind of attitude. One may argue that that’s better than an exclusive ‘brand’ of Christanity that says “if you don’t think my way then you don’t fit in at all”. Perhaps I could go by the title “leftish Christian” although I’m not terribly fond of “right/left” as descriptors. They often seem to carry as much baggage as the term ‘Christan’. What about a “co-operative Christian” as opposed to manipulative or dominating or narrow-minded. I think ‘co-operative’ communicates some of that, “I want to change the world but in a positive or creative or subversive way” type stuff? Hmmm… still seems a little too nice, a bit too friendly and middle class perhaps… I’ll keep thinking. Thanks for this discussion Bek – it’s a good one!
