World Music / Drumming Workshop

Authentic worship should be culturally relevant.  This workshop will explore the concept of the music missionary and investigate possibilities of music ministry in non-western cultures.  The ethnomusicologist acts as a catalyst in the creation of christian music and worship in the "heart music" of the people.  We will take a close look at Bajans, and the development of indigenous christian music of India.  We'll experience a cultural immersion afternoon as we dress in costume and see, feel and hear the culture of India.  There will be discussion and hands-on music making, exploring Aradhna - cross cultural Christian worship, plus Bajans and indigenous Christian music.
Venue: Chester St Uniting Church Hall, Epping
On the roundabout at Chester and Oxford Streets
Cost: $25/$20 concession, including afternoon tea.
